PoCo judo club shines

The Port Coquitlam Judo Club reeled in a string of medals at the 2013 Canadian Judo Championships in Richmond earlier this month.

Tom Argue won gold in the male 45-49, 81-kilogram category, while Teresa Plesner won silver in the under-40, over-70-kg division and Eric Cherneff had a silver finish in the male 40-44, over-100-kg class.

Mike Crandell took bronze in the male 55-59, over 100-kg division, while Kristi Roots landed bronze for under-21 women, under 70 kg.

John Morris and Stephan Duran struck gold in nage no kata [a pre-set series of throws], with Morris teaming with Rick Blanchard to earn bronze in katame no kata. Blachard and Ron Kuramoto won bronze in kimi no kata, while Argue and Harley Mechalchuk earned bronze in nage no kata.
